Mentoring- Pastor Carl

Pastor Carl's talk with us on Monday was SO INSPIRING to me! I loved it. There is very little that gets me more excited then mentoring. I know God wants to use each of you to affect other people's lives- we just have to keep our eyes open for the opportunities. Here are some of my notes from Monday night to remind you of the challenge... RECEIVE from someone and GIVE to someone!

Are people important to you?
What kind of people do you need in your life?
Who are the most important people in your life?
Why?

Why does everyone want to be Donald Trump's Apprentice?
They don't just want to win the money, they want to learn HOW to make the money- sitting under Trump would have that affect. His wisdom is more valuable then the money he can give

Mentoring:
(the original human resource)
-Taking someone under your wing
-Helper
-Influence/Accountability
-Walking along side
-Sharing your life with them

John Mark/Barnabas/Paul
Acts 13:4,5
Acts 13:13
Acts 15:36-40
2 Timothy 4:9
Phil 1:23-24

Have you ever run into someone who sees potential in your that you couldn't see in yourself?
A mentor has the ability to see something in you that is worth developing

HAND TO LEARN- HAND TO TEACH

Be willing to accept encouragement/healthy criticism
Doesn't matter how old you get, you can always learn from someone
Take the experience you have and share it with someone else

Usually, the people that can give you the best advice are the ones who have give you life- your parents.

Remember, you can gvie to someone else becaues you have received from someone.

Links for the Fast

Hi Everyone...
We are well on our way for New Life's Fast 2010. Remember- the sacrifice is worth is. As I wrote in a lot of your journals, as your hunger grows for your favorite food, God will be faithful to increase your hunger for Him. Spend time digging deeper in His Word and listening to His voice. Don't forget to journal anything you feel God is speaking to your heart. You can do it!

Journal Entries #4

12. 8.09- 1.4.10
HERE ARE SOME JOURNAL ENTRIES FROM THE PAST COUPLE WEEKS...

Psalm 1:6
"For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish."

Psalm 55:22
"Cast your burden on the Lord and He shall sustain you."
God takes care of it all. We never have to think we won't make it through.

1 Corinthians 1:25
"For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength."
Our God is so great that even His weakness is stronger than our strengths. How can we think that something is impossible when we have God, who even His weakness is much stronger than our strengths!

Before I can hear from God I need to find everything that I'm busy with or anxious about and cast it on God; making Him my number one focus.

God wants to be the thing that consumes our life but we put idols before Him, like TV, computer, food, etc. before Him. He wants us to be so intimate with Him that we dont have anything in our lives that we have to call "idols."

This year I want to be a better Christian. I know we will always strive to be like God, but I want to praise Him more for who He is (Daniel 4:3) and I also want to watch what I say more (Ecc. 4:2) whether it's to my family or arguments with my friends.

Trusting means making myself vulnerable, which is something I avoid in my life. I need to give up my own desires and become vulnerable in order to trust God. 1 Chr. 5:20

I feel like there is a lot God wants to show me this year and I'm excited to find out where I end up and how He is going to use me.

Be sincere in what you do. Dont do it halfhearted. Always give your best. Be careful of what you say. Words are strong than you think.

God, thanks that I dont have to stumble through life to find you. Thank you for sending your son, Jesus, to show me the way to yourself.

Journal Entries #3

11.02.09- 12.7.09
Here are some journal entries from these past 4 weeks...

I'm very excited about doing my devotions... so I am going to go read!

I was reading Genesis and I was thinking WOW, God is more amazing every time I read the Bible! God's our Creator, He created the Heavens and the earth, I know most people know that but maybe never take the time to think WOW!

For the vision for my life I want to see something amazing happen so I can say "THAT'S GOD!"

God, show me Your love! Consume me with your fire! Consume me with your love! Your arms are wide open! God, I long for the day when I meet You face to face.

Let my heart overflow with love, God help me each day to spend personal time with You. God, I really need to admit that each day. I mean so much to You that You died on the cross.

In my life I want to point people to God in my daily life. Hopefully I get to go to college and have a career that God can use me in.

Over the month, multiple opportunities have come up for me to stand up for my faith and after the first few, I stepped up and said something. No one said anything against me so it felt good.

"God is a place of safety you can run to, but it helps if you are running to Him on a daily basis so that your in familiar territory." (Stormie Omartian)

I want to serve God and follow His plans for my life, whatever they may be.

Abraham was willing to sacrifice his own son. Shouldn't we be able to sacrifice the little things in our own life?

Dear God, even in the days where it seems impossible, please help me to be slow to anger. Help me to gain more of your characteristics each day. Help me to use them in my everyday life.

God, help me not to be so caught up in my world that I forget about You!

Psalm 59:16
But I will sing of your strength in the morning, I will sing of your love, for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.

Thankfulness finds something good in every situation.

One revelation I got from the Lord is what a great Father he is. How he loves us and is always there.

I would like to end up being so close to him that all of his promises will be fulfilled in me. That i will be closer to God, more than Peter and John the Baptist.

All day today I felt like I was in complete communication with God!

Journal Entries #2

10.20.09-11.01.09
Here are some journal entries from these past 2 weeks...

Psalm 29:13
"God is my refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble."

God, help me to heed your instruction and be wise. Lead me to do Your will, come and reveal Yourself to me.

Psalm 52:9
"I will praise You forever for what you have done; in Your name I will hope, for Your name is good. I will praise You in the presence of Your saints."

I pray that as I live, I would live my days to the fullest, being like you, speaking like You. Reveal Yourself to me each day and keep me close to You.

Isaiah 6:3
"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty. The whole earth is full of His glory."

I am hungry for God!

Jesus, thank you for making me ME. I'm sorry for not being content, please forgive me, help me to see who I am as You do!

Jesus, I want to thank you for being here for me no matter what.

Yesterday at prayer I really felt God's love pouring over me. It was hard to breathe. I felt Him forgive me of my sing and a heavy burden came over me for the lost.

Psalm 20:6
"The Lord gives victory to His anointed."

Lord, give me a deep passion for You. Help me to live by faith and not by sight. Lord, help me to realize that the Lord of all creation is my Father and that you care for me. Lord, awaken my heart to understand Your Word. Open my eyes to see Your plans for my life.

Lord thank you for putting Godly people in my life to encourage me to read my Bible every day.

We may feel abandoned or isolated because of some of the things we have done, but though we feel afraid or separated, we should not give up.

God's rescue does not always come at the moment we want it to, but the moment we need it to. He is faithful!

Lord, I pray for the students and leaders of Impact. Breathe over them. God speak to us. Teach us Your ways.

Hebrews 10:23
"Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful."

I feel I have to continue to go to God in repentance and everyday life with a fresh mind on Him.

God us us to turn the world upside down!

Got to not be so lazy and be quicker to do something for others instead of letting someone else do it.

I need to allow God's Word to remain in me and speak God's Word to others that are blind.
